David Cumpston brings more than 15 years of public relations experience to his role as a Director at Landis Communications Inc. (LCI), where he is responsible for directing a number of high-profile clients in a variety of industries including: retail, healthcare, real estate, hospitality, food/beverage, consumer technology, and financial services, among others.
During his seven-year tenure with Allison+Partners, David managed day-to-day activities and played senior roles on a number of large and small consumer and consumer tech brands, including: Orbitz Worldwide; Best Western International; Kimpton Hotels; Joie de Vivre Hospitality; travel search engines Fly.com and Cheapflights.com; ARAMARK Parks & Destinations (for Mesa Verde National Park); BranchOut (a LinkedIn competitor); Pageonce (now Check.com, a Mint.com competitor); Mozilla; Pearl.com (formerly JustAnswer); Coveroo and Sustenex probiotics (creator of the first probiotic gummy bear). Prior to joining Allison+Partners, David worked for Manning Selvage & Lee, where he managed day-to-day responsibilities for travel search engine SideStep and conducted strategic media relations outreach for educational toy manufacturer LeapFrog Enterprises, videogame maker Midway Home Entertainment and Philips Electronics. At MS&L, David specialized in proactive media and analyst relations which included the development and execution of media tours, press events, quarterly PR planning meetings, and a variety of client-related written materials. Previous to MS&L, David began his public relations career with Access Communications, where he played an instrumental role in the most successful consumer product launch of 1999, the Sega Dreamcast videogame console. These efforts earned him and his team international accolades from organizations including The Communicator, SABRE, PR Week, Gold Quill, Mercury, and PRSA’s Compass Awards. Other clients at Access included AutoTrader.com, Valpak.com, and Horizon Organic. David began his professional career with Starwood Hotels and Resorts, where he was a specialist with The Luxury Collection, the company’s elite division of upscale, unique accommodations. His group was responsible for anticipating and fulfilling a broad range of requests by some of the world’s most discerning travelers. David graduated cum laude from Texas State University-San Marcos with a bachelor of arts in mass communication. An avid world traveler, David has visited more than 40 countries across five continents, and spends the rest of his free time keeping up with current events, experiencing new restaurants, and enjoying the myriad of indoor and outdoor activities that the Bay Area has to offer.
